Solstice (October House Records, 2023)

Solstice is a selection of violin and accordion pieces composed in the summer of 2020. Recorded acoustically, they were then electronically warped and distorted into grainy, aching versions of their former selves.

Some of the tracks (solstice, slow one, slow two) began as a remote EP project with composer Christian Drew playing accordion. The others are for strings alone and were written around the same time, late June. Coming from a similar timing and geography, they needed to belong together. All the tracks were created in the east coast of Suffolk, in a nod to childhood, wide skies and the sand tracks that run all over that side of the county.
